Position Title: Diesel Mechanic

Reports To: Lead Mechanic

SUMMARY: Maintains District’s vehicles in a safe and dependable operating condition.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs repairs and maintenance on District vehicles within established service schedules.
- Diagnosis problems, repairs, overhauls, and replaces external engine parts, etc.
- Inspects, adjusts, repairs and overhauls brakes, differentials and rear assemblies.
- Repairs and replaces all seats and seat covers when needed.
- Performs required inspection of all District vehicles.
- Keeps work area clean and free of debris that could results in injury to District employees.
- Ability to drive bus routes when requested.
- Adheres to the District’s policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties assigned by supervisor or administrator.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Experience working on gasoline and diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, and other aspects of heavy-duty trucks, pickups, and automobiles preferred. Must have working knowledge of the standard practices and tools associated with automotive and heavy-duty diesel and/or gasoline engines. Must have working knowledge of air brake systems.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must possess or obtain a valid Oklahoma Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License with passenger and school bus endorsements/air brake qualifications. Must obtain and maintain a State Inspection Certificate.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Ability to pass an annual physical exam and to pass all required drug screenings.
