JOB TITLE: General Maintenance Technician
DEPARTMENT: Maintenance Department
REPORTS TO: Director of Maintenance
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience: Experience in general building maintenance and repairs, building remodeling and playground equipment repair.
- Skills: Good judgment and decision-making ability. Knowledge and application of good workplace safety practices. Must keep a valid driver's license and maintain an insurable driving record.
Essential Job Functions:
- Install classroom/building items such as soap dispensers, towel holders and pencil sharpeners.
- Outside work such as placing splash blocks, trimming trees, tilling, and maintaining mulch in playground boxes.
- Operate forklift, tractors, and pulling equipment trailers to perform general maintenance tasks.
- Participate in meetings, as required
- Assist in solving technical problems
- Maintain building code compliance
- Assist in a preventative maintenance program on departmental tools, equipment, and vehicles.
- Assist in product testing and evaluation.
- Coordinate work with other divisions, as needed
- Meet as required with Director of Maintenance and/or General Maintenance Lead to schedule work to complete assigned work orders.
- Prepare bills of materials for the procurement of supplies and materials to complete assigned work orders.
- Process the required paperwork on the progress and completion.
- Work cooperatively with other departmental personnel and other site personnel.
- Perform such other duties and assume such other responsibilities as may be required to accomplish the essential job functions as directed by the Director of Maintenance or designee.

Able to clearly explain steps, provide clear directions, and answer questions about construction processes to employees and subcontractors when necessary. General care and cleanliness of the issued district vehicle is expected as well as keeping all district tools and materials secure. Must follow all safety rules, practice safe work habits and use appropriate safety equipment.
ATTENDANCE STATEMENT:
Employee must be able to be in attendance for assigned responsibilities 95% of the time.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
